7 Landscape Lighting Techniques that you must to know!
Up Lighting – Highlighting
A common and useful technique created by light fixtures that direct light on a tree, from the ground up, to show off its shape and trunk structure. By varying the distance and angle of the light fixture, you can experiment with different lighting designs for unique landscape architecture goals.
Wall Washing
Wall washing is a technique that refers to the general lighting of a wall or surface. There are several fixture options in the market. It is important to choose one that contains a reflective coating and therefore provide directional light.
Path Lighting
The mirror lighting technique is used to create dreamlike water scenes by strategically lighting the background areas of bodies of water. With the right conditions, this technique creates a partial or nearly identical reflection of the landscape in the water, adding depth and visual interest.
In-ground Lighting
In-Ground lighting is perfect when used in places where are people are walking thru sidewalks and patio areas. It can be is used to create a wall wash or accent effect. There are several options in the market. Some have the option to choose the beam temperature of color or can be color changing.
Hardscape Ligthing
Highlight entrance, walkway, steps, handrails, benches and more. These lights work very well as security lighting. Light fixtures can be installed recessed or attached to the wall. During the day, fixtures are hidden beneath the hardscape, but at night their light defines an area with a surrounding glow that draws your focus into the area.
Down Lighting – Moon Lighting
This effect is created by installing a suitable light fixture on the trunk or branch of a tree pointing downwards spreading the light through the leaves. It can be an artistic effect of moonlighting or works as security lighting. To create a Moonlighting effect we use 4000K color temperature LED lamps to best match the moon’s natural light color.
Mirror Lighting
The mirror lighting technique is used to create dreamlike water scenes by strategically lighting the background areas of bodies of water. With the right conditions, this technique creates a partial or nearly identical reflection of the landscape in the water, adding depth and visual interest.
